Genre : Acoustic Jazz
About This Act :
Two times prizewinning and the audience prize at the world's biggest jazz piano solo competition at the Montreux Jazz Festival, the most important prize in Austria - the "Outstanding Artist Award 2011" and many fivestar reviews in the German-speaking countries for his CDs - The austrian pianist David Helbock is well on his way to a big international career. Helbock is not only an excellent pianist but also an unconventional thinker. With his trio "Random / Control", he explores the variety and fun manner of the complex relationship between composition and improvisation, between control and freedom. The two multi-instrumentalists Johannes Bar and Fabian Rucker explore with him a wide range of musical options and impress with a huge variety of sounds.
The words creative, open, hip and unique come to mind when I think of David Helbock. I have known and been the teacher of David for more than 10 years and have watched him grow from a talented young pianist into a young man with a remarkable personal voice both as an improviser and a composer. (Peter Madsen - pianoplayer of Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Stan Getz,...)
