Born in Bandung, Indonesia on July 29th, 1979, at the age of 9, Dira Yulianti won the second prize of children singing competition. After she graduated from high school she took her first vocal lesson at Elfa Music Studio. She studied there for three years. She began her career as a singer as well as a student at the Music Department of Pelita Harapan, majoring vocal performance. In 2006 Dira J. Sugandi earned her Bachelor Degree. She has performed in several places with many groups and local musicians such as: SOULMATE, Maestro Big Band, Rieka Roslan, SOVA, Imam Praz Quartet, ARAB Jazz, Pelita Harapan University Big Band, and many more. She has also performed with foreign musicians such as INCOGNITO (2002) in Bandung, Surabaya, Makasar, Medan (2006) in Bali, Singapore, Jakarta Keith Martin (2005) in Bandung, YELLOWJACKETS (2006) in Jakarta and Bandung. She has also performed at several jazz events like Java Jazz Festivals, Bali Jazz and Jakjazz. She's also involved in a project called World Peace Orchestra with musicians from around the world such as Dwiki Dharmawan, Walfredo Reyes Jr, Roger Burns, Steve Thorton, Andy Suzuki and Tollak Olstad. Dira was also the lucky songstress to sing with Jason Mraz at JJF 2009. Finally, in 2010, Dira Sugandi released her debut album in the UK, titled "Something About the Girl", an album produced by Incognito's mastermind, Bluey Maunick.
