Fusion/Jazz guitarist Dwight Sills got his start in Houston in the 1980s, playing with a jazz group called Axis. After signing with Columbia Records, he released his debut album, Dwight Sills, in 1990, which did well on the R&B charts. In 1992, Second Wind was released. Throughout the next several years, Dwight toured with Wayne Henderson & the Next Crusade, Kirk Whalum, Anita Baker, Boney James, Rick Braun, Richard Elliot, Brenda Russell, and Bette Midler. Dwight recorded his third album, Easy, in 1999 while signed with Citylights Music. His version of “Dock of the Bay” received attention from radio nationwide. He has been involved in several television, movie, and studio projects, which include The Michael Jackson Tribute, Jay Leno, “Ali”, and TLC’s “Crazy, Sexy, Cool.” As a writer, Dwight has co-written songs for Jessica Simpson (“Sweet Kisses” album), Rebekkah, Will Downing, and several new artists. Dwight Sills continues to tour with Richard Elliott, Guitars & Saxes, Jazz Attack, Jeff Lorber, and Rick Braun. He also plays annually on the Jazz Cruises hosted by Dave Koz and Wayman Tisdale. Dwight currently resides in Houston, Texas with his wife and two golden retrievers.
